Response to Literature

I have read the book Séance by Joan Lowery Nixon. This book is about a girl named Lauren whose foster sister talks her into going with to a séance where she disappears. Then she is found dead which launches this small town in east Texas into a frenzy of rumors and lies. This is a fiction book that has taught me that people aren’t always who they seem. I think this lesson is important because even if you have known someone for a long time, you never know what they do behind closed doors.
The author used the narrator’s intelligence and paranoia to show that it could have been anyone who killed the two girls. He also made the murderer someone the narrator knew and trusted to support this theme. Another thing is he made her an old woman who nobody would have expected. This is how the author supports his theme.
I had a friend who I thought was a cool guy, but after a while he became not such a nice guy. Then after awhile we stopped hanging out. Later that month I saw him and we got a ride to the mall from him. When we got there he and his brother jumped me and my friend Bobby. This surprised me because I thought we were friends.
Séances are the ritual communicating to spirits. The word Séance came from the French seoir which means “to sit” and is about 152 years old. Meetings called 'circles', because participants, called 'sitters', sat around a table (or on chairs arranged in a circle) in order to link hands, in the belief that this boosted the psychic forces which encourage paranormal manifestations. They are meant for people in the physical dimension to communicate with one or more of the other dimensions.
I think this theme was a believable because it is based in the real world. All of the things in this book could happen to anyone and we all should be careful of the people we meet. All the characters acted in a manner that I would have acted in, if I was in that situation.

Exam #2

The Columbian Exchange transformed the world in a more radical(extreme) way than any other development in world history. One significant effect of this process(series of actions) was the establishment of the Triangle Trade. While many factors were a part of the Triangle Trade, the rapid growth in both supply and demand for new commodities was the largest motivating element. This time period may be best associated(connected to) with economic developments, but it is impossible to analyze(To examine) this period without considering the intense social impact that the Triangle Trade had on those involved. In truth, a full understanding can only be gained by appreciating(feel good about) how economic and social factors(something that applies to) impact each other in history.

There was a big supply and demand for new commodities like Sugar, Coffee, tea, and Cocoa. This time period may best be connected to econmic developments, but it's impossible to examine time without thinking the intense social impact that the Triangle Trade had on those involved. A full understanding canonly be gained by accepting how economic and social factors impact each other in history.

Exam 1

People are cheering for the death of their king which shows how much the lower class hated monarchies. The excution was public, this shows how barbaric people where during this revolution. They are using a gullienting which shows that they aren't that advanced.




In this picture a woman is holding a flag showing that equality ir rise in France during this time. Their are piles of dead bodies around them showing how violant battles were. They are holding a new flag which interpretates that they wanted a new government.




This picture shows minute men marching through town, this shows that the rich didn't care about the poor starving. It also shows people robbing bakers which shows that people are starving. There are alot of women which also shows equality in this revolution.


These pictures show that the French revolution was a bloody time, but they were nessacary for todays government systems to have came to be. They also show the begining between men and women becoming equal. Finally they show the death of a monarchy and the birth of modern goverments.
